Wedding Dance

How can anything be new
when nothing startling is born under the sun?

How can we expect to clamber up into something like eternity
like a host of wedding goers assembled in shivaree,
when these earthly shadows of wedded realities
are the closest thing to it that we know?

Until a stone was rolled away
and timelessness explained by a new pair of eyes
did the birth of anything true,
happen forth under this same sun.
What a visited canopy,
this galaxy is,
and what a rumored expanse is this dancing, broken vessel.

And for those with new eyes
what a fruited, peaceable expanse
is forever to be told in,
and what fragrant climes
will be the setting for the happy ending to our stories and tales
while we wait.

A more fitting wedding train will sweep past us on that day
while the voice that rolled away the stone,
finally utters the shout of a perfect Bridegroom
risen with glad glory over a new estate,
searching the secrets of a completely refashioned world-
finding His waiting bride.

Then He who sat on the throne said “Behold, I make all things new.” Revelation 21:5a
