A Place Called Delight

soft you now, stand slow,
in the green-glade chapel
where two hearts meet

in fellowship deeper than what lifetimes mean
mid wattled groves of blessedness
to walk and worship and laze

laughing ‘ neath the boughs of orange trees
blossom-drowsy as orchard bees

a world that shuts out the world
two souls always in meeting
 You and i

a realness
that shuts it’s eyes
and walks in climes of happiness
more waking than any dream

following the footsteps of blessedness
searching the secrets of the land
conversing and carousing
with the rest of the people outside

while You and i -we
speak, snow-quiet in clasps of white
for longer than eternity will find

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him…” ~ John 14:23
