“Grief melts away
Like snow in May,
As if there were no such cold thing.
Who would have thought my shriveled heart
Could have recovered greenness?”
~ from The Flower by George Herbert

i surveyed the smile, of my baby brother
feeling suddenly bound-tight, balmed in content…
and sat down at the kitchen table,
to watch the snow fall.

while my heart held thoughts of God, and a “greenness”
so fragrant and heady
that i have not seen for quite awhile.

but this new year,
this january
this starting over, and always, and trying again,
is sylvan, with gentle snow
along every branch,

is precious, and real, and new.

because: the path of the righteous,
is a way that winds upward in sunlight,

and He does,
renew our youth,

so that we soar like the eagles….

i thank you God.

“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” ~ Proverbs 14:6
